I did not. It would be on the record if I had! A 5 minute speech is the parliamentary equivalent of a tweet - potential to do a lot of harm by not being able to fully explain yourself.

Forgive my ignorance but are you able to speak as and when you want during parliament or do you have to "book" a slot? Do the Lords speak "off the cuff" or is it all pre-planned and researched? Is everything recorded? I'm genuinely interested.

This kind of debate you put your name down by 5pm the day before although you can speak for up to 3 minutes "in the gap" on the day. I thoroughly research & prepare, others ad lib. Everything is broadcast live on the internet & written down & kept for centuries. It's all online.
