I've read this thread and I've come to the sad conclusion that he is not engaging on the issues at all. He claims to be listening, yet places the word of trans women over evidence from women. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see balance here.

I have read your timeline, you challenge gender critical women but I don't see the same challenge to transactivists. I think your challenges to women are perfectly reasonable, it's the lack of challenge that makes me believe that you aren't truely engaging.
-
When the knowledge that people cannot change sex is accepted as transphobia without query or challenge, then I think there is a profound problem.
-
Yes, instead of parliament starting from the point where women only spaces is the status quo, the belief that ‘Transwomen are women’ is the starting point & that it’s bigotry to challenge it. The debate is rigged against us from the start.
-
“...Parliament is starting from...” The truth is, from talking to colleagues, 75% of parliamentarians don’t understand what this is all about or have no opinion.
-
Those of us who have engaged with politicians generally receive a standardised “party line” response, patting us on the head, telling us not to worry and failing to respond to any of the points made. I’m trying to gear myself up to write (again) but it does feel as they describe

You said recently that we need a strategy. Many of us have written to MPs. We tried to explain the risks we see. We related this to those in our families who may be affected. We have written to our MSPs.
-
We have written to organisations who are following self-ID as if it is already in place. There was almost no publicity. A few reporters started to pick up info from Mumsnet. It has been smeared and muted.
-
Women are organising meetings. Everywhere they go, they must make arrangements in secret. The size of meetings has been limited as so few venues will host us. Yet still women are attending. Tickets are sold out.

This is it. One element of the whole range of complex arguments taken out of context to make me look unreasonable. The list of muted accounts grow by the day & its very sad.
-
The stickler for me is the idea of how ILLIBERAL self ID is. It forces everyone to believe that there is an indescribable nebulous feminine essence, of which men can be possessed, and all they need to do is say the magic words "I am a woman" and then they are transubstantated.
-
And that.... if they don't believe it, they are guilty of hate (and could be prosecuted by the state). It's the new apostasy. I'm all for people practicing whatever belief they see fit but it CANNOT over ride secular beliefs grounded in physical reality.

This may be difficult to hear, but I read both. The discussions here gave me more hope than reading your timeline.

Twitter is, as you say, an awful place for debate.
-
One might hope that The House of Commons would be better, but I don’t see any evidence of that so far. Women’s voices may be dominating this thread, but they’re not being heard in parliament.
-
Sadly Parliament is dominated by men. Are you going to attack them or persuade them? You can say what you like to me on here but this is not the real world. You need a strategy to change minds in the real world.
-
Where have I said anything about attacking people?Sorry if this thread is making you paranoid.I’m saying that it’s their job to debate issues like this & they’re failing the electorate, & our political class no longer represent us, on many issues but this is the last straw for me
