I’m chiefly concerned about ensuring the safety of women and girls against male violence, to be honest.

Your response was incredibly dismissive and you know it. Having spoken to many women I can tell you whilst most will accept someone they know personally, the presence a male stranger in a space where they are vulnerable and in a state of undress is completely different.

This is Twitter. I’m responding to hundreds of tweets as I’m the only one engaging. I apologise if my shorthand caused offence. It was not intended and I did not realise it would cause the reaction it did. You have to make allowances. I’m a man but I’m not a misogynist.

I know and I appreciate your efforts to do so. Comments like that make people doubt your sincerity though - as you’ve seen.

I am laughing now thank goodness. I do get it.

IME then, talking to other women and friends about TW in female spaces - none of us want males in our cummunal changing rooms, competeing in out sports. And yes, a TW did use our communal changing/shower area and the women were upset by it. We definitely don’t want self id.

This is why we need comprehensive impact assessments for each of the *eight* other EA protected characteristics (all of whom have a stake in *sex-based* rights) before we even consider changing the law to legitimise self-ID, which would effectively replace 'sex' with 'gender'.
