Personal insults now. Do you wonder why anyone is prepared to listen?
If it’s happening already, it’s obviously not the result of proposed changes to the GRA.
-
-
Can you agree that it should not happen? And that if it is advice and procedures need to be changed, possibly clarified, to prevent it happening?
-
Thank you. There are always two sides to the argument with conflicting evidence and of course, we only cite the evidence that supports our argument. That doesn’t mean other views are not valid.
-
But accurate
-
You can't say something isn't true, then when faced with the stats. just come up with 'there are always 2 sides to an argument'. Something is true or it isn't.

I’m not saying there are not genuine concerns about male violence. I’m questioning the link with the HRA changes.
-
Actually, women have been questioning the legality of many of the things that are happening in practice ahead of the law changes, but the concern is that afterwards the floodgate will open, and we will have no legal recourse.
-
I would add that if it’s happening already, it could indicate that the law needs tightening up, not that everything is fine with the status quo.

It clearly is a result of the pressures bought by transactivism - of which the proposed changes are part of.
-
The point is that these changes are being brought in step-by-step. Most of us were wholly unaware when the first steps were taken. I am not aware of any press coverage of the debates that occurred.
-
Now more steps are being taken and they are significant. Each step will be defended with “but it’s not causing any problems. Why are you objecting?” With a subtext of “transphobe”.
-
It is likely impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt that problems will be created. I see in Canada that ill-feeling is growing, but that isn’t documented evidence.
-
But if there are problems, and it seems likely to me there will be as so many women are already uneasy, then it is much harder to roll back and the damage will already be done.
-
This is the time to go back to basics. Should some men have women’s rights extended to them for their protection? Or is there another way to tackle that issue?
-
If it can be shown that transwomen are at risk in male spaces, there are other possible solutions: policing those spaces, heavy penalties for offenders, a zero-tolerance policy towards those committing violence against GNC males, education on prejudice and male femininity etc.
