Do the crime figures back up the statement that transwomen will be at significant risk in male spaces? If so, then how can society help them? What are the costs of that help? I feel those are the questions that need to be asked.

Instead I feel we are being told that transwomen are women and must be allowed into female spaces and the only discussion allowed is whether there should be any gatekeeping, and if so how much.

Women are being asked to prove they will be at risk, when the burden of proof should surely be on the other foot.

Women should feel they are being assured that no harm will occur because x, y, z. Instead they are slurred as transphobes and bigots for questioning whether the deal on offer is safe.

I am aware some transsexual women have been afforded that privilege and it has caused few problems. But Stonewall et al have widened the “trans umbrella” and at the same time, we are told we must relax the law in a way that will remove the need for psychological assessment.

It doesn’t feel safe to me. And yes, I am aware that is not a fact, but other better qualified people have also urged caution.

The Faculty of Advocates in Scotland responded to the consultation there stating that even in those countries where self-ID is in place, those laws are “relatively new and their operation in practice may not yet be easily assessed”. So they urge a degree of caution.

http://arb.advocates.org.uk/media/2720/final-faculty-response-gender-28-february-2018.pdf … I feel women have been manoeuvred into a defensive position, when they should be being reassured. And currently I and many others do not feel the reassurances offered are sufficient.

You’ve hit the nail on the head. Women are not being listened to enough & not being given sufficient reassurance but when you try, you’re attacked. I’ve been called transphobic for saying this & for listening to women & a homophobic misogynist by radical feminists. What do I do?

I get it Jules. I’m not sure I’m even going to Pride and that is very, very sad.

I think that is very sad and unfair. It’s a crazy world.
