Personal insults now. Do you wonder why anyone is prepared to listen?

I think that refuges are already under pressure now, because they can lose funding if they are ‘not inclusive’ and that men should never be housed in prison with women. But my point was that accepting people can change sex means the EA could be bypassed?
-
I’m being told that it will not
-
If the equality act offers protections based on sex, and self identification of gender comes to override biological sex, how can it not?
-
If someone states unequivocally that they are a woman, and have full documentation that states they are a woman, and having a GRC has special protected status so that it is illegal to ask if a person has one, how will anyone be able to prove they are not?
-
There are exceptions as I have pointed out. There is no “right to be forgotten” if you have a criminal past, for example. You can’t erase your criminal record with a GRC.
-
But exclusion from women’s spaces, such as refuges. Where those running the refuge feel that it is essential that women and children can be free from male bodies to recover. A number of the women campaigning with me have been so traumatised that they needed men-free spaces.
-
That will not be allowed? In Vancouver, there is only one refuge left that only admits natal women. It is under constant challenge. There are traumatised women who do not feel they can access health care unless they are assured their treatment is by women.
-
I will reiterate something I stated earlier. Please bear with me as it won’t fit into a single tweet. The unvarnished truth is that this discussion centres around whether some men should be afforded women’s rights. I am aware that some find that statement difficult.

Which is why a double rapist is in a female prison then? Who is now in solitary confinement because he wouldn't stop hassling the female inmates?
-
I need evidence that these statements are true.
-
It has been reported on in the national press, as have other cases
-
If it’s happening already, it’s obviously not the result of proposed changes to the GRA.
-
Can you agree that it should not happen? And that if it is advice and procedures need to be changed, possibly clarified, to prevent it happening?
-
Thank you. There are always two sides to the argument with conflicting evidence and of course, we only cite the evidence that supports our argument. That doesn’t mean other views are not valid.

Women prisoner's rights to privacy, dignity and safety are already being ignored due to male-bodied prisoners in the female estate. Many working in this area are deeply concerned and some have been brave enough to speak out.
-
On Self-ID: one governor, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: ‘My fear is that this could make it much harder to control the transfer of born-male, transgender prisoners to women’s prisons. This could lead to vulnerable women being intimidated – and even attacked.’
-
Andrea Albutt, president of the Prison Governors Association said: ‘I have seen women feeling very threatened by transgender prisoners’ presence. Women prisoners are very vulnerable. A lot have abusive men in their lives, who are part of the reason they have ended up in prison.'
-
Ms Crook, executive director of the Howard League for Penal Reform, added: ‘[some] men are not transitioning because they like women and want to be a woman, but in order to exert a new kind of control and dominance over women, a sort of infiltration.
-
That is a very insightful observation from Ms Crook. It's
#notalltranswomen but it applies to many. Women recognise this as the misogyny it is. Just a new form of domination power and control that is being lauded as progressive. New boss same as the old boss. -
The trouble with self-id is that if any man can be a woman just because he says he is, you hand ANY man the power to dissolve all biological women's rights and protections just by saying the magic words "I am a woman." It won't be nice men like
@brianpaddick who play this card... -
It will be abusive men who wish to harm women. Exactly the people women need their rights to protect them from. The original GRA was designed for a very small number of transexuals with diagnosed gender identity disorder and likely full surgery...
-
Until recently that has largely worked on the basis of trust, small numbers, clear definition of transexual and medical gatekeeping. Self-ID open to the range of groups under the transgender umbrella, plus any man who chooses to abuse it is a completely different proposition...
