The big question in the minds of most women is "Why should someone who until 10 years ago would have been called a transvestite or pre-op MtF TS be granted automatic access to female-only spaces and a female birth certificate as a solution to men's alleged hostility to them?"

I see no evidence that trans people in the UK suffer more "appalling prejudice and discrimination" than women and think we need to compare hard facts before making any decisions that diminish women's rights or alter the balance of rights vis-à-vis other protected characteristics.

Why don't men campaign to make male spaces safer for those who identify as feminine, if (as has yet to be proved) these places are dangerous? Why are men's loos not being made unisex? Why are men not giving up jobs & resources to empower MtF TSs? Why do trans rights = women lose?

Why should 2.5m Muslim women stop participating in public life because female-only spaces will become mixed-sex if any man can claim he's female? Why should 6m disabled/learning-disabled women who need same-sex privacy for toileting lose independence because males are there?

Total U.K. Muslim population 2.6m. Asian women participating in sport 12.5% (nearest equivalent measure) = 163,000. Is this the only factually inaccurate statement in your tweets? We need reasoned, reasonable & factually accurate debate. https://www.womeninsport.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Muslim-Women-in-Sport.pdf?x99836 …

You are using figures from 2010, Brian, which are drastically out of date. The 2011 census showed 2,706,066 Muslims in the UK, while more recent Pew research shows that the size of Muslim population in 2016 was 6.3% of the UK population (which was 65.348m in 2016) i.e. 4,116,924.

The 2016 figure for Muslim women *alone* was therefore c. 2.06m. http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/11/29/5-facts-about-the-muslim-population-in-europe/ … Given that the Muslim population will increase exponentially faster than other demographics, even with no further migration, and that a larger proportion of Muslim women on average

are in the age band of higher fertility, 2.5m is not an unreasonable projection for 2019/20, which is when I would expect sex self-ID to take force. http://www.pewforum.org/2017/11/29/europes-growing-muslim-population/ … I’ve no idea why you’re mentioning Asian women in sport - perhaps in response to someone else’s comments?

Apologies so your figures are based on your projection of the female Muslim population when you estimate the GRA changes will come into force. And what public participation are they going to be prevented from entering into? And what assumptions are you making about Muslim women?

Many muslim women take off their hijab in the mirror/washbasin area of female public toilets to tidy themselves up in the presence of other women. Making toilets mixed sex (gender-neutral) means they can no longer freely use these spaces.

There is nothing in the proposed changes to the GRA about public toilets or who can use them or changing them from single sex.

However, mixed sex (gender neutral) toilets and spaces are popping up all over the place in anticipation of self-id. Many formerly women's only spaces are being renamed 'gender neutral' to accomodate everyone. Because women are so accomodating.

And there appears to be great confusion over who can and who can't use women's toilets, e.g. in this BBC article that last paragraph appear to me to be saying that this pub was acting illegally.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-39415622 …

          1. Why do people need GRCs, given that everyone can be as masculine or feminine as they wish? 2. What does someone with a GRC feel entitled to do? 3. How do providers of female-only services enforce their rights now? 4. How will they do this if <500,000 males 'become' female?
