This is a far more nuanced debate and it is essential that all people affected should be part of the discussion.
My understanding is that they won’t be granted automatic access.

This is where the confusion lies. Unparalleled privacy laws for people with GRCs mean records of changes in legal sex are sealed. The original, factually correct, birth certificates are destroyed. There's thus no way for female-only service providers to prove a male isn't female.
-
I don’t think that’s true either. For example, if someone has a string of convictions, then transitions & gets a GRC, courts will still be told of their previous convictions if they offend again. Access to services, prisons etc. must be risk-assessed on an individual basis.

Brian, genuine question, why have none of the political parties spoken to intersex women about this too? I know Trans Media Watch etc claim to speak on our behalf but trans isn't intersex. I feel like we're being used but not listened to.
-
I’ve asked anyone who wants to talk to me face-to-face to DM me. Many have but no intersex people have. I’m very happy to meet with intersex people.

I think a large part of the problem here is a lack of clarity, and with changes there is an opportunity to clarify. For example, one might propose the new GRC makes clear a legal distinction between sex and gender,
-
for the purpose of the act, and policy it affects will he clarified reflecting these context specific definitions. Sex and gender identity remain separately defined under the EA and changing gender, it is made very clear, does not change your sex.
-
Careful consideration given to what documentation and record keeping contain what information. Crime stats (perpetrator and victim), employment etc will only yield useful information about safety and discrimination if they are accurate.
-
Gender ID tombe not a presumed category, but an additional one. Sex based protections and spaces to be automatically considered to remain sex based and not gender based.
-
Where an organisation chooses to use gender instead it makes its policy clear, carries out an impact assessment completes safeguarding checks and has a clear safeguarding policy: have a system to politely check for safeguarding purposes.
-
Theis is not a fully formed pla: it is a thought not an argument, it may be a great plan or a terrible one, others will have better or different ideas: as you say, we need polite, informed discussions to get to a sensible conclusion.
