Don't generalise Brian. You fuel hatred of law-abiding cyclists by using that kind of language. For every 108 people killed on pavements, 107 are killed by motor vehicles. Cyclists don't pollute; & combat obesity. There are bad ones and there are bad drivers too.

Actually it was two years ago since this occurred, February 2016, and is so rare that you remember it. Since then over 200 pedestrians have been killed on pavements by motor vehicles and motor vehicles have been directly responsible for over 3,500 deaths in the UK.
-
So is “no deaths caused by cyclists” factually correct or not? I’m not excusing motorists behaviour or cyclists behaviour but you hear almost zero about the latter. We all need to be considerate to other road users, including those crossing the road on the “green man”.
-
No, it's not correct, as I've already conceded, there has been one, extremely well-covered case. The point I and many others are making is that the problem of nuisance cyclists is nothing compared to thousands of deaths every year caused by cars.

Rhiannon Bennett, who was 17 when she was killed by a speeding cyclist in 2007.
-
The cyclist wasn't speeding, Rhiannon had been drinking and her mates were in the road. Cyclists are getting stabbed for bikes in Hackney. That cyclist was wrong but I can understand wanting to get away.
-
“the defendant admitted in a police interview that he could have steered away from the pedestrians” but shouted "move because I'm not stopping".”
-
"Chris Thompson, defending Howard, said: "Mr Howard was riding down towards a group of young people. He shouted a warning and the group moved to his left. "You were right, exactly what you said, but Rhiannon at the last minute stepped back in front of him"

He was convicted

You're absolutely right Brian, I stand corrected. Best then to focus on that one death rather than the thousands occurring annually due to motorised vehicles. Good luck on your righteous campaign.

Name another case other than the Alliston one. It is very easy to cite one case yet ignore the 1700 or so per annum ( over 4 per day ) killed by drivers of vehicles.
-
I was replying to the false claim that no deaths are caused by cyclists. And no doubt if I provided another example, you’d want another one. No one should lose their life at the hands of an inconsiderate road user, whether motor vehicle v bike or bike v pedestrian.
-
I’m sure that’s true. However is about risk. The risk from motor vehicles is exponentially far greater as deaths from vehicles at nearly 5 a day confirm. The objection is the unjustified vilification of cyclists against other road users. All should be respectful of each other.

Bet you can't cite another since Alliston in 2016 though
Motorists kill 5 people per day, every day. Where's this "perspective" you insist on?Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Some 800 pedestrians have been killed by drivers since one was killed by Charlie Alliston. Looks like you're guilty of generalising just as Jeremy said, and focusing on something that isn't a serious problem. 700 people every year are KSI'd on the pavement by drivers in the UK.

That was two years ago. I believe that at least 3 cyclists have been killed in London in the last couple of weeks.
