Don't generalise Brian. You fuel hatred of law-abiding cyclists by using that kind of language. For every 108 people killed on pavements, 107 are killed by motor vehicles. Cyclists don't pollute; & combat obesity. There are bad ones and there are bad drivers too.
-
-
Thousands die every year on UK roads, none of them as a result of irresponsible cyclists. If you're that concerned about the dangers of transport there is a more obvious target for your concern.
-
That is factually incorrect. A cyclist was jailed for killing a pedestrian not that long ago.
-
Actually it was two years ago since this occurred, February 2016, and is so rare that you remember it. Since then over 200 pedestrians have been killed on pavements by motor vehicles and motor vehicles have been directly responsible for over 3,500 deaths in the UK.
-
So is “no deaths caused by cyclists” factually correct or not? I’m not excusing motorists behaviour or cyclists behaviour but you hear almost zero about the latter. We all need to be considerate to other road users, including those crossing the road on the “green man”.
-
No, it's not correct, as I've already conceded, there has been one, extremely well-covered case. The point I and many others are making is that the problem of nuisance cyclists is nothing compared to thousands of deaths every year caused by cars.

Rhiannon Bennett, who was 17 when she was killed by a speeding cyclist in 2007.
-
The cyclist wasn't speeding, Rhiannon had been drinking and her mates were in the road. Cyclists are getting stabbed for bikes in Hackney. That cyclist was wrong but I can understand wanting to get away.

“the defendant admitted in a police interview that he could have steered away from the pedestrians” but shouted "move because I'm not stopping".”

Sorry Brian, Jeremy is right.
-
Another well thought-out logical argument surrounded by facts.
-
Indeed, his is. Yours is ancedotal at best, inciting division at worst.

If you want perspective Brian I recommend engaging with West Midlands Police. Their traffic unit is winning awards all over for its evidence-led road harm reduction initiatives.pic.twitter.com/sBytYttu3Y

What awards?
-
I’m not arguing cyclists are as bad or as dangerous as motorists. I am arguing that some cyclists are inconsiderate and ride dangerously & that is unacceptable. Many seem to be saying it’s OK because they don’t kill many people. I don’t agree.
-
Nobody has said it's ok. Save your strawman

Brian I have always thought of you as a very reasonable person, your response to
@theJeremyVine is surprisingly ill considered and will fuel ignorance and prejudice. -

How's this for "perspective", Brian?pic.twitter.com/844im6E51a
-
So it’s ok for cyclists to run red lights as long as they don’t kill anyone in the process?
-
Strawman, nobody is claiming that. You called for "perspective", I gave it you
