    While I trust that this is accurate, this is literally unbelievably insane. GOP Senators have gone completely conspiracy theory crazytown.

    3/ Many (most?) Republicans, as shown in Sen. Alexander's statement, also think Trump is reckless and dangerous. But what you need to understand is that they think there exists a MUCH bigger threat to democracy than Trump - the deep state/media elite conspiracy.

    ., if you're going to corruptly sell out the proceedings to Trump, just have the dignity to do it honesty, without wasting all our time with this sanctimonious nonsense. The "product" was not "flawed," and you goddamn well know it. Own your position and defend it.

    I see a lot of people saying the election won't be fair. You're right. It won't be. But we definitely can't lose hope. We need to focus on registering and mobilizing the vote in such huge numbers that no disinfo or voter suppression efforts can quell the unmistakable landslide.

    I would like to hear Rubio, Alexander, etc describe what presidential conduct *would be* impeachable. Is the argument that so long as impeachment is divisive it can never be deployed? Should Nixon have been impeached if he hadn’t resigned? What’s the standard here?

    Trump’s defense disjointed. They claimed Trump did nothing wrong. Then they made a case against Biden to essentially claim that Trump’s actions were justified. Then, ended with a weak argument that abuse of power isn’t impeachable. Sounds like a slow moving confession to me.

    Truly what kind of a country are we when a US Senator takes cheap shots at a Purple Heart recipient who has dedicated his life to protect us. Shame on you Sen. Blackburn. You’re better than that.
