Sitting by an open window. Most of the day I watched snow fall. Right now the snow has long stopped and I’m wondering who is cooking the late night mince and tatties that I’m smelling wafting in the window.

Stabbings and shootings both result in horrible injuries. Some of the most life changing injuries that I've seen are from punches and kicks to the head. There is no such thing as a 'good' assault.

One really sad thought: I'm grateful that this spate of TTC attacks hasn't involved guns

Ugly and should stop. But it isn’t new. When our side faced death threats, awful protests and more, I don’t remember this call for civility.

Chief of Ophthalmology at Montfort Hospital in Ottawa saying Bob Bell is wrong.
Quote Tweet
Replying to @drbobbell
Dr. Bell that’s incorrect. The QBP price that hospitals get for cataracts do not include all staff and housekeeping costs. Global budgets cover many of those costs. Not to mention the cost of equipment, infrastructure, etc.

The department Bob used to run, when he ran it so well we got hallway health care, begs to differ. Total cost, including what he dismisses as “sunk costs,” is higher in a hospital by an average of more than $50 per cataract surgery. A fact doesn’t want you to know.

Thanks Brian. All direct costs (staff, lens, housekeeping) are included in the Quality Based Procedure price hospitals get for cataracts- $455. Sure hospitals get $$s for "sunk costs" (maintenance on HVAC eg) but these do not ⬆️ when incremental cases done. Only QBP $$ is paid. twitter.com/brianlilley/st…

It's embarrassing that has to lie in order to make his point. Bob, I haven't run the health system but even I know hospital global budgets cover nursing, admin, cleaning and more. You are entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts. Happy to debate you on facts.

Sincere thanks to @brianlilley for confirming that Herzig will receive $150 more per cataract surgery than ON hospitals. This means that Ottawa Herzig's 5,000 cataract surgery contract will cost ON taxpayers an extra $750,000. ottawacitizen.com/news/local-new

Many in Toronto want to know when the Eglinton Crosstown will open. Looking at Ottawa's LRT, maybe the Crosstown shouldn't open. The same "LRT Super-Consultant" was front & centre on this project. Lots of the same names in the consortiums in Ottawa and Toronto and same suppliers.

BREAKING: LRT experiencing more issues. There’s a broken down train at Tunney’s Pasture. It was initially blocking part of the track, but crews have been able to move it into the station @ctvottawa
