I remember this absurd story, happy charges were dropped.
My interview w/ two penetration testers who were arrested and criminally charged last September in Iowa for doing what they were hired to do: Test the security of courthouses in Iowa. Did they and their clients document that they were going to pentest and both parties signed on it or not?

There a conflict between whether the state had the authority to conduct security testing of a local courthouse. It was the sheriff's department that deemed that the state could not conduct these pentests. Regardless of that legal position, the arrests were unlawful.

Ummm they weren't hired to test the security of courthouses. That's not entirely true at all. Way too many egos going on with this situation. Them included. They aren't martyrs.
