Just discovered my mom-in-law has been going into her AOL spam folder and unsubscribing from emails there. Doing so involved clicking soooo many links in seriously dodgy emails. She was like, "why won't it let me unsubscribe?" Me screaming into my pillow.

That, and bc nobody in my family pays the slightest attention to what I preach, and it just feels like talking to a wall most times.

are you embarrassed that you haven’t positively impacted her security posture? do you expect this “shame the user” tweet will move her towards better security?

I got her a Mac last year after repairing the umpteenth cheapo MS laptop. In retrospect, it seems like a waste of money bc all she does with it is play online games that earn her travel points. But at least I'm not repairing the Mac (yet), so there's that.

Wait till it’s your wife and OpSec - she loves to play those $5 PC games that require admin rights to run (and also why she is on her own network segment...)

On the bright side, she apparently manages to navigate properly. My mom (74) clicks but mostly misses, because the mouse moves during clicking :/
