Just got this message from Twitter about an API bug that exposed direct messages (DMs)/protected tweets to developers for 16 months; Twitter says this affected <1% of users https://help.twitter.com/en/account-activity-api?lang=browser … Guess I'm one of the unlucky since I'm seeing this message?pic.twitter.com/3RWDmkKQX2

well maybe its less of an issue. Over the weekend the only people I saw reporting the message were women with popular twitter accounts

I just got this from Twitter, so I asked: "I received notice that Twitter employees had access to some of my DMs. Which DMs were they exactly? How many Twitter employees had access to them? Were the recipients of my DMs also told that my private messages to them were compromised? pic.twitter.com/OILTbbw7uc

Is it 1% of all users, or 1% of people who use DMs or have protected accounts? It’s very possible that 99% of Twitter users have never DMed - I’ve been a user for 10 years and have probably sent five DMs
