FYI, the only reason I'm still here is to to make fun of the new CEO and his $44B dumpster fire. Anything serious I have to say will be said over on that other site (rhymes with John Mastodon). But please, keep the replies coming!

I haven't seen my non-tech friends talk about this much, so let me break this down a bit: do you like severe weather alerts? Animal every hour or hydration reminder or other fun bots? Do you log into anything with your Twitter account? You won't be able to do that anymore.

Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵

Hey , since you don't seem to have much a media/comms team anymore, can you address the apparently legitimate claim that someone scraped & is now selling data on hundreds of millions of Twitter accounts? Maybe it didn't happen on your watch, but you owe Twitter a reply.

Just enjoyed several glorious days when I didn't even think about Twitter. Wandered back just now to see what's new, and yep about what I expected.

This article could easily be updated to reflect the current reason a lot of people here (particularly journalists) have their accounts locked: It slows the firehose of bot replies from gajillions of accounts that don't follow you. It's probably also come to mean FU to Twitter.

Tesla has just been informed by the NHTSA that our cars pose an “imminent threat” to all drivers & are demanding an immediate recall of all vehicles w auto pilot. We are going to fight this to the end, but I’m being forced to announce the immediate recall of our entire fleet. 1/2

Listening to this Twitter Spaces where Elon is talking about the tech stack and it's clear that no one has been in a position to actually ask him a follow up question in years. He thinks he knows everything and simply will not abide someone contradicting that notion.

Hey , by your own rules proclaimed ~48hrs ago, don't you need a poll to propose policy changes to how polls are done?

After Twitter users voted to oust Elon Musk as CEO, he has remained silent. Now, he appears to think the problem isn’t him, but who gets to vote in the polls. cnn.it/3WzjfRO

Why are trump Elon and Putin all trying to convince you American law enforcement and the US government are out to get you? Putin is a sworn enemy. Musk is an oligarch. And trump wants you to believe a secret global conspiracy is just trying to make him seem like a lifelong fraud

Police say ⁦⁦’s own security detail sparked the incident that Musk later used to ban the posting of FAA data and then ban a slew of reporters who referenced FAA data. All the turmoil at twitter had nothing to do with twitter, it appears

It's so weird that the macroeconomic environment has impacted Tesla (-41%) and not Ford (+1%) or GM (+8%) over the past six months. It's almost as if something else happened in mid-October.

In simple terms: As bank savings account interest rates, which are guaranteed, start to approach stock market returns, which are *not* guaranteed, people will increasingly move their money out of stocks into cash, thus causing stocks to drop.

What happens when you lay off your entire accessibility team? You launch a set of icons that cannot be distinguished by the color blind.

Starting today, you’ll start seeing additional icons that provide context for accounts on Twitter. In addition to blue and gold checks, you’ll see grey checks for government and multilateral accounts and square affiliation badges for select businesses.
