I’m sick of the debate over whether House Democrats will be perceived as “going too far” on basic oversight. Their Constitutional duty is to provide oversight—rooting out corruption & abuse while protecting democratic institutions & rule of law. That’s the job. They should do it.

.#DoYourJobDems! Unless it applies to a Trump type presidency, the impeachment clause should not even exist. Congress needs to order Mueller to report what evidence he has, or explain, even in closed hearings, how much more time he needs. USA is bleeding.pic.twitter.com/dNgPtfJNjN

The paradox of contemporary politics: Democrats go "too far" when they investigate legitimately criminal behavior of powerful people while GOP is conducting "responsible oversight" when they investigate political opponents for purely partisan reasons.

Earlier this week I saw a German reporter say the House would probably be "going after Trump" and I thought that was a weird way to say "providing the Constitutional duties of oversight and accountability."

Seriously it shouldn’t even be a question. @HillaryClinton was investigated (and exonerated) endlessly for nothing and the @GOP never once debated whether they should do it. Now there are things that legitimately demand investigation and they must be looked into

Well, there's been no basic oversight for a couple of years now so it comes as a shock to some... As you say, it's their job to provide oversight. Go House Democrats!

Why should the Republicans worry anyway? They say they've done nothing wrong, right? 🙄

I mean, just because the GOP were derelict in their duty doesn’t mean the Democrats should be. Compared to what the GOP did, a mild perusal will look like overreach. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There's no "going too far" in providing oversight. It's those they're overseeing who are in the business of "going too far". That's WHY we have "oversight".

Funny how the basic accountability required for a functioning Republic gets framed as a threat to that very functioning or some kind of political liability. Makes me wonder whose interests are serving by such framing.pic.twitter.com/4vYCwOnAO6

Funny how "they" never talk about restraint when the GOP is in power. All the media ever talks about, now, is dissension amongst the Dem ranks and how Dems need to compromise. This theme has been rehashed ever since Bush II won. 😐🇺🇸

Exactly! The Dems are always infantilized by the GOP and the media. They always seem to think they are welcome to offer Dems advice about restraint. Yet the GOP be off the rails with partisan BS and RW extremism and then we get to hear false equivalences and "both sides do it."

MSM is creating this ridiculous storyline that only far left liberals want oversight. I am determined to tweet at every person I hear this from and the media outlet spreading this lie. I am a moderate and I want oversight. #Oversight=Truth
