    If Dems manage this year to take back complete control of the lawmaking process in a handful of states, not sure why automatic registration (or pre-registration!) wouldn't be at the top of the legislative agenda in every one

    Voting rights milestone: today, California expanded its automatic voter registration law to automatic voter *pre*-registration! 16- and 17-year olds who get their license/ID will now be automatically preregistered and ready to vote when they turn 18.

    The teenager is not trying to seem wise in the ways of some Washington game of three-dimensional chess. Journalists too often censor themselves from calling BS when it is plain sight for fear of seeming naive

    Watching a teenager fundamentally challenge Rubio’s talking points feels like watching a generation call B.S. on a whole form of politics. For years, Rubio’s weakness has always been inauthenticity, but no journalist (including this one) has evoked it as vividly.
