I don’t argue for legal prohibition; but the law as it stands is incoherent and unjust, since all forms of FGC, including forms less invasive than MGC but performed with equal religious conviction, are already prohibited in Western law. I assume you want that changed?

Not necessarily, as I have already argued that the religious status of MGC and FGC may differ in Islam, and certainly differ in Judaism (for religious Jews, that is). I think that outlawing MGC would cause much more uproar among Jews and Muslims than outlawing FGC.
