Obscene. "Women's Rights Advocate" advocates the religiously-driven genital mutilation of little girls. PS There's a way to remove "smegma and dirty smells" and it's called "taking a shower with a bar of soap." https://twitter.com/Sithy321/status/972756549788577793 …

Excellent @briandavidearp column on female genital mutilation http://quillette.com/2017/08/15/female-genital-mutilation-health-benefits-problem-medicalizing-morality/ … "All children—female, male, and intersex—have a compelling interest in intact genitalia."

I’ve seen no evidence of residual psych trauma from circumcision of male infants. The form of ‘FGM’ for which these individuals are being prosecuted is minor by comparison. Prediction: case will be tossed or defendants found innocent, circumcision is not going to be banned in US.

No, it really isn’t. This article establishes an interesting hypothesis, but it was a very small preliminary study, and I have not found any subsequent corroboration in the literature of the last twenty years. Nor anything else supporting the notion of long term harm. 1/

There is evidence for both harm as well as long term benefits to male circumcision and, according to the AAP, the current evidence suggests that the benefits outweigh harm. Personally, I think infant circumcision is problematic, but evidence matters. 2/2http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/130/3/e756.short …

The AAP stands alone on the issue, and its policy is expired. Try looking at all other current policies from pediatric societies worldwide, and you get a different picture:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/316527603_Cultural_bias_in_American_medicine_the_case_of_infant_male_circumcision …

Thanks for sending me your paper. I agree with your conclusion that the AAP position re. balance of harms and benefits of male circumcision may be culturally biased. On the other hand, there is little evidence that the medical negatives outweigh the positives,... 1/

I've no idea why you keep saying small chance of harm. It's like you don't understand what's actually being done, or what's being taken away

..2) where the ‘conclusions’ drawn from some of the cited studies are, imo, misrepresented e.g., interpreting greater frequency & variety of sexual acts engaged in circumcisied v uncircumscribed males (an observation since not well replicated) as due to sensory impairment. 3/
