Thanks to educators like you, I did NOT chop up my boy 8.5 years ago and it's one of the decisions in my life I am proudest of.

She's so right - the answer is education. We need to keep sharing information while gently educating. This mom just broke the cycle of circumcision, and protecting her son will have a generational effect.

This is the quagmire. For every couple that finds out about circumcision and protects their son, a Dad is going to have to find out a truly shocking revelation about himself. Hard stuff

The excitement, perhaps shock, of a new pregnancy, often starts the routine acceptance of much of the expectations. Blue for boys, pink for girls, circumcision for boys, dolls for girls. Nothing should be automatic, infants are all different.

i think folks turn to tradition for comfort during an extremely stressful time. that is no excuse for refusing to educate oneself, but it is at least an explanation for some people's stubbornness. they're scared. if they're wrong about circ, what else have they gotten wrong?
