FGM is usually performed by a person with no medical training and can leave a girl with lifelong pain and/or reduced sensation from nerve damage and disfigurement of the female genitalia. It’s hardly just a nick!

It depends on the community - in Malaysia it is usually performed by a medical person in clinical environment & the form done is a nick that doesn’t remove tissue. FGM refers to > a dozen different procedures & in many communities it’s been medicalized. My point was: still wrong
