I had thought the point was that kindness (understood a certain way) was most likely to be effective in actually changing a person’s mind. So in the case of someone who supports the worst evils, all the more important to be effective.
I imagine there are some situations where not actively showing kindness to someone could be morally justified (though importantly, being kind is not the same as being "nice"). But then, there are probably some situations where almost any reaction to anything could be justified.

Look, the original post was about being kind to those whom one has convinced to abandon an aspect of their reality. No qualifications were made. I am arguing that qualification is needed, not just because it’s true, but because it’s important.
