The entire CDC response is a joke. Whoever is the anonymous working group that did the response to reviewers just went through the motions; it's really a mockery of science and the scientific process. At least the disingenuousness of the process is a matter of public record

Article mentions each of the previous 2 @CDCgov directors: the tobacco-stock-owning Brenda Fitzgerald and the rear-end grabbing Thomas Frieden. Anyone remember who was before Frieden? I can't remember the last time we had a #CDC head who hasn't proven to be unfit for the job.

It's pure cherry picking. On the one hand, they say the experiences of poor African men circumcised as adults are relevant to infant boys in the US - when they think they like those experiences... #i2

Yes, I mean ... I was really surprised at how blatantly they just ignored the peer review from Van Howe. They would skip six pages of criticism and just say, "Our review was evidence based." Pure rhetoric, absolutely no attempt to actually address the criticisms. Astonishing.

One of the many fatal flaws with the RCTs is failure to do anything to determine whether condoms were actually being used by anyone (though they thumbed the scales by giving extra safe sex counseling to the circumcised men) & whether there was any IV needle transmission. #rigged

The CDCgov response shows how biased they are. I’m sure there are NO Intact men on the committee. They show no respect to men as having a Right to their bodily Autonomy. They take a very cynical view by saying in effect men can’t control their sexual urges.

Seems doubtful intact men participated. But it's clear @CDCDirector has a lack of concern for individual rights & an unscientific, Victorian hostility toward sex & proven methods of preventing STD/HIV transmission (e.g. condoms) that'd make Kellogg proud.https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/13/opinions/trumps-terrible-choice-for-cdc-redfield-garrett/index.html …
