As a matter of linguistic efficiency, I think we need to just remove the slash and christen the word "andor" to do this important work going forward. It comes up too often and alternate phrasings tend to be cumbersome.

"... or ... or both" but it's debatable which is clunkier. Clunkitude is in the ear of the beclunked.

Beclunked is my new favourite word

Instead of “X and/or Y” you could try “X or Y, or both”

Logically, doesn't "and/or" simply mean "or"? I was always told to never use the former and always use the latter.

I would never reject a paper for using ‘and/or’. And, frankly, our writing would be more concise (or at least have higher syllabic efficiency) if we just accepted the use of ‘and/or’. I say you set the trend. I’ll follow.

You can do 'and/or' and/or start the sentence with 'any of the following...'
