I have great respect for @eliungar, whose documentary ‘Cut’ is a must-see film for anyone interested in Judaism & genital autonomy http://www.cutthefilm.com . So when he talks about antisemitism, I listen.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psdlwcoC01g …

And? Do you agree that Clopper is antisemitic? I listened, too, but I am not convinced.

“The Jews, I know I’m one of them are an unmasked genital mutilation cult. That is why we are so clannish. It is our shared delusion of superiority that we must uphold to maintain our perverted tribal identity.”-Eric Clopper.

@jerzy_freitag@briandavidearp@ChooseIntact 1)We are not a genital mutilation cult.2)We aren’t particularly clannish. 3)We don’t have a shared delusion of superiority.4)We don’t have a perverted tribal identity. None of it is true and all of it is antisemitic.3 replies 1 retweet 4 likes -

But you DO mutilate infant genitals, so that part looks true, at least.

Mutilating infant genitals doesn’t make a 3K year old religion a “Genital mutilation cult.” That’s called being reductive.

Once again, the Jewish intelligentsia TELLS intactivists that "circumcision is THE CENTRAL TENET of Judaism". What are average people supposed to think?

I don’t know who you’re talking to. Different Jewish authorities give it different levels of importance. Maimonides, for example doesn’t place a lot of weight on it. Average people ought not get defensive when someone brings up concerns about antisemitism in good faith.

In exchanges w Rich Shweder, I've sometimes stressed that, clearly, there is a great deal to Jewish culture and practice, being Jewish, etc., that has nothing to do with circumcision, since Jewish women aren't circumcised and are no less Jewish. Does that seem on track to you?

Well, again, the Torah emphasizes the import for males. And look, obviously there ARE Jews that choose not to practice circumcision, but it's in the texts, and a lot of them do.
