Brian, I don't believe that there would be good faith in accepting responses because the well has been wholly poisoned against whole categories of theorising. It's anything but an open-minded place – it's just closed around a worldview you/we have *some* agreement with.

There's a strong view that rationality and present scientific theorising map to each other and little acknowledgement of the degree to which culture and theory change what present scientists think. I've watched you long enough to know that this is not something you agree with.

I like it. Point of tension you feel are ones I feel. If you make mistakes in resolving them they are earnest mistakes. Also fits with something I want very much: for the left to see itself as a collection of alliances for policies rather than an ideological whole.

I'd rather we beat Trump with Greer than let Trump genuinely fuck up trans people. Massive frustration for me is the way we eat our own *even* when faces with major threats. Surely the commonalities are more important in those moments?

I don't normally want things to be transactional but if left groups could see themselves as members of voting blocs jockeying for a say in final policy rather than trying to make a unified ideological movement, we'd be better off.
