I guess if the journal is highly regarded for the right reason, i.e., it only publishes really good work, that that seems a fine thing to mention in such a context ... It's just that journal impact factors are not a good indicator of whether something is really good work

No journal is highly regarded for that reason, as we well know. My view is that no (real life) quality of a journal can be an indicator of the quality of an article. Only the content of the article can be such an indicator. That said, ...
