I've recently learned that my 'public persona' comes off as though I'm this very confident & competent person who has his sh*t together. The truth is that actual Brian and Twitter Brian are pretty different. I tend to be private about my feelings, but, this is just to say [1/2]

... academia is really hard; imposter syndrom is real; and, well, mental health issues can affect people who, on the outside, maybe look like they've got it all under control. So, for anyone struggling with those things, just want to say, I'm right there with you. We'll be OK!

You look after yourself, Brian. You and your work are valuable and important. Far from being an imposter, what you do is much more relevant to the lives of people living today than that of many academics. And if you need any help, please find it.
