Their self regard is astounding. I’d hate it but understand if it were a financial decision. But I think the problem is straight up narcissism.

I absolutely agree, but I find the *tiniest* sliver of hope in watching this headline get incrementally better like five times in real time until it starts to approximate the world as it is. But yes we deserve a less-attenuated-from-reality newspaper where it comes out good.
Can they really be shamed into reporting stories in the proper perspective? I'd like to know how - people have been stating this from the rooftops for over 3 years now and not a THING has regularly changed. They are framing the headings and stories like this because they WANT to.
It takes the same amount of collective effort to get the NYT to generate an accurate headline that it does to get Jack Dorsey out of his yurt to approve a label for a fashy tweet. Neither of these things are great.
These political editors/writers are the laziest in the world... I think they should move all the foreign affairs correspondents and editors into the politics section and move all the political writers/editors into foreign affairs
There's still this massive inertia about the idea they have to treat both sides "equally" that ends up reinforcing lies
I didn't log on to their site till a few hours after and this was the first headline I saw. I almost fell off my chair that they got it right. Less than surprised to know it took at least three tries. Times-brain is real.
