    On August 4, there were 53,549 new covid cases reported. On September 13, there were 261,341 new covid cases reported. Interesting how the coverage of Obama's birthday was filled with outrage about the Delta variant but it's barely mentioned in coverage of the Met Gala.

    The disastrous consequences of pulling out of the Iran Deal are clear every day. The plain statement of fact below exposes the complete failure of the maximum pressure crowd which is still taken far too seriously in Washington

    Iran has come within roughly a month of having enough material to fuel a single nuclear weapon. The country has not been this close to a weapon capability since before President Obama agreed to the 2015 nuclear accord.

    First, Taiwan was allegedly doomed bc of the Afghanistan withdrawal and now Taiwan is allegedly doomed because of vaccine mandates for federal employees. Two things that have....nothing to do with Taiwan.

    This viral video is nonsense. It begins with a bonkers claim that the Secretary of Defense sent a text to all active military demanding they get vaccinated by 10 AM the next day. There was no such text. Also, the military's actual vaccination deadlines begin in November.

    As an NPR listener, it stinks seeing so many extraordinary talents and familiar voices moving on, but very grateful for all the years listening to reporting.

    In 2004, I joined as Mexico City correspondent and I have been so lucky to have been given so many opportunities by this amazing organization. Yes, I've covered calamities and conflicts, but also the explosions of joy and incandescent bravery that mark the human spirit..
