Figured it out. Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Never use font sizes smaller than 9. That messes up the page.

@brentsimmons For years, I've raised the minimum in Firefox & it's sad how many pages looked trashed after that. -
@brentsimmons a bright side for the web is we are still deducing it's quirks. -
@brentsimmons I have mine set to 18. That breaks a lot of the web, too, but a 3840x2160 monitor has very small pixels.
