The bill will require people to pay off even fines and fees that had been converted from criminal penalties to civil obligations before regaining their right to vote. Conditioning access to the ballot on ability to pay is *not* what Floridians voted for.

Of the formerly incarcerated Floridians who registered to vote in January, February & March of this year, more than 44% identified themselves in their voter registration forms as Black, whereas Black voters comprise 13% of Florida’s overall voter population.

Additionally, the average income of the formerly incarcerated Floridians who registered to vote between January and March is nearly $15,000 below that of the average Florida voter. There can be no mistaking the racial and class implications of this regressive new legislation.

It was a Citizen Initative to Amend our Constitution. Rep. dominated legislature ignores us. It's the only way to get chg. Now the law has been chgd to make it harder to get Initiatives on the ballot!
