Our lab's first data paper is out with huge thanks to Paul Fitzgerald! My first personal venture into research directly on psychiatric questions. We found that low dose ketamine only has typical antidepressant action on stressed but not unstressed mice

Shocking that Ron Duman just passed away. Wow. He was right in the middle of doing really high-quality work hunting down how antidepressant dose ketamine helps the brain - such an important question for psychiatry and neuroscience. He will be missed.

Wondering how cortical signal flow depends on the task your doing and on your strategy in individual trials? Check out our new preprint at . Many thanks to Yasir Gallero-Salas, , and all co-authors.

One factoid about this review on the stress concept- the reference list includes papers from my husband’s lab, S.J. Watson, my son’s lab (Fitzgerald et al, 2019) and my daughter’s PhD work (Watson, K et al, 2018). Stress is our family’s business!

I liked Star Wars Episode 9. It did what it needed to and was a good ride. It’s in the top 5SW movies - ones I can imagine myself actually deciding to rewatch just for fun (3,4,5,6,9).

1/ Hippocampal-prefrontal awake replay paper in the new issue. CA1 reverse replay for retrospection, forward replay for prospection, with opposing learning gradients. CA1-PFC replay supports past recall and future planning for spatial working memory.

So honored to be part of this book on Solitary Confinement! Huge thanks and Jukes Lobel for spearheading this critical volume. It’s not only an academic but a humanitarian undertaking.

I still have a twinge of regret for calling them high-frequency oscillations (HFOs) when it could've been ultra-fast oscillations (UFOs), still a fun project though!

Before I heard of optogenetics, I was a mathematician simulating learning and oscillations in neural networks. Now my lab has a bunch of experimental data that demand new models. If you’re looking for postdoc opportunities modeling cortical dynamics please contact me!
