Wonder if perhaps this needs to be said: This stuff haskellers talk about - the monads and whatnot - is fundamental. It's not the sort of stuff where, like, jquery is replaced by angular is replaced by react and vue and so on. You're not gonna wait it out til the next thing comes

Option types are just instances of the more general monad pattern. The general pattern is still important!
