For diacritics it's able to color them correctly, and it handles "normal" Indic/Arabic text correctly.

But for Indic conjuncts it seems to fall back to dividing the ligature evenly, as well as for Arabic ligatures like the allah or la ligature

I implemented that. I couldn't think of a better approach.

Yeah, no, that makes sense.
Interestingly, for conjuncts that use half forms it works as well (e.g. न्न्न्न्ह). But most good fonts have all the biconsonantal conjuncts as separate glyphs so those get the fallback, even for ligatures like न्ह which could use the half form.
