This isn't new for me; I've looked forward to tech confs ever since I started going. But I never really thought about it.

I used to be an extremely introverted kid who was happiest with his books.

And this only really started changing as tech and open source became a vehicle for me to socialize.

To be clear, this was years and years ago, and a gradual process.

And I don't *need* a tech context to socialize (anymore).
