I just realized that I'm writing Rust for 10 years now. My first talk on Rust shows a barely recognizable language.

Introduction to Rust for people that use Python and Ruby. Notice that this is about a work in progress Rust around version 0.4. YMMV.

Yeah, it’s easy to forget how… different it used to be, and cool to see how far it has come since then. I’ve also done a bit of digging into the commits to the language repo before I started messing with Rust and it’s fascinating how even more exotic it used to be.

And yet somehow Rust was captivating even before it hit 1.0. It gave me the same warm and fuzzy feelings that I got when I first picked up Python.
