Been really enjoying NixPkgs. I’d hesitate to recommend it to folks who haven’t bought into the idea and willing to take on the the steep learning curve, but if you are it’s pretty incredible.

Just so cool to have a declarative setup for most of my system, and the subshells for individual projects. Has taken a good amount of time to master, but the recent stuff they’ve done, like flakes and the nix command have really helped make it a little easier for me at least.

Were you thinking of giving it a go? Lemme know if you need any tips/tricks. Can’t offer support but always happy to give pointers and approaches I use to find answers when I’m stuck. (tbh I should probably write some of this down actually)

I was doing some research for a chat with someone ahead of a meeting - they’re going to help us get some docs/content about nix + macOS + Buildkite 💚

Ohh right, that sounds great! Just understanding dev workflows and stuff can sometimes be a bit hard to find without just asking someone or reading it in an online discussion, so it’s great to hear that you’re looking into working on docs for that stuff. Hope it goes well! 👍
