I'm trying to read up on the history of async/await in Rust. Does anyone have blog posts, RFCs, etc. that they'd recommend?

My understanding is that it started with the Futures crate, maybe in tandem with Tokio. These showed the core idea was workable, then the Future trait moved into std and async/await were added to simplify writing futures.

Seems to suggest that Tokio already existed at that point, given it is referenced at the end 🤔
