I know nothing about Australian politics or what Adam Bandt's big ideas actually are, but his response here about media's reductive and empty "gotcha" culture (this certainly applies in US and UK media which I follow) is spot on.

it's been A Thing lately. Somehow we ignore the actual actions taken by the current government in favour of conducting pop quizzes on how much bananas cost or what the unemployment rate is, as if any responsible public servant would rely on their memory when it is relevant.
