The town didn't exist when he lived there but Alan Turing lived in Shenley Brook End during WWII which is now in what most people know as [one of my] hometowns.

Note: I didn't know much about Bletchley Park's role during WWII while I lived in Milton Keynes so it didn't influence my profession.
Fun fact: my BFF in Six Form/High Scool lived in Betchley & I almost never spelled the town correctly. She refused to accept it was part of MK.

Well I mean, NO ONE knew about the significance of Bletchley Park until relatively recently, no?

Yes, I guess I was showing my age. :)

When I was in college i was intrigued by the idea of the Turing Machine and looked up some of his other work… much later I was angry that all of his most significant contributions were suppressed thanks to the Official Secrets Act.
Turing and Rosalind Franklin are my heroes.

Side-track, but I was also pretty angry when I learned about all the women at the WRNS working their asses off on electromechanical computers during the war, who were never able to get recognition or talk about their work for decades afterwards due to the Official Secrets Act. 😒
PBS aired "The Bletchley Circle," a miniseries about four "wrens" who returned to private life after WWII and found they missed the intellectual challenges and so began solving murders with mysterious clues. It was a bit dark, but I really enjoyed it.
