I think it's important my international followers are aware that Australia has done, and continues to do horrible things to refugees seeking asylum. #Djokovic got out after a few days, and yet they're still forced to remain in these hotels just a few suburbs away from me. #auspol

There is an overwhelming feeling of disappointment at the #ParkHotel. The media left when #Djokovic left. Where is the support for the refugees who are forced to remain after 9 years detention? No one should allow these people to go back to being alone and forgotten.

We don't get as much airtime as other countries like the US, probably because we are small, and because our major governing parties (the Liberals, Nationals, and Labour) all agree to these policies, leading to little ‘controversy’ to report on. 😕

It breaks my heart that this has been happening for over a decade now. I implore Australians to use your preferences wisely in the coming election in order to send a signal that this isn't ok. We have the prefs, so *use* them!

Preferences are the choice of the voter. Neither parties nor candidates can control where your preferences go. The AEC counts out preferences according to the numbers you write on your ballot paper. Number the candidates in the order you would like to see them elected. #auspol twitter.com/AusElectoralCo…
