Yeah, been looking into digital gardens and such! Seems so cool. I have a Zotero full of papers but really wondering if I should instead move to something like BibTex - I want to be able to add cross-references from my notes, and potentially publish them in future.

I saw this goofy thing that I've been contemplating trying to resurrect or port to Rust, lol. Would be fun to have your papers/references loaded as a FUSE file system:

I think there is an org-roam plugin for BibTeX though, if you are in emacs land. I am in VS Code land, alas.

It's not too late to join us in Emacs land 😉 If only I could share all the research management modes I've starred...

Haha maybe one day! Still find the keyboard shortcuts/navigation a bit to get my head around. Oh yeah silly me, I imagine there must be a ton out there lol. Currently my main project on my mind is getting my new mac set up with Nix! 😊

Ooo, jealous! I have been meaning to look at replacing brew with nix- partially because everything breaks on update, partially because we use it at Canva, and partially because... because.

Oh Canva uses Nix?
It's been nice on the whole, although there's a bit to get your head around at first. Although they are still technically experimental, Nix flakes and the nix command seem to make the experience much nicer than when I tried it in the past!

Yep- used with bazel (large monorepo)

Oh cool! Is the approach documented anywhere publicly? I have some silly ideas about maybe trying to build /package the thing we make at work (PrinceXML) with it.

Hmm, doesn't look like we have anything external. could you write up "What is nix? What is bazel? What is nix AND bazel?"

Ah no worries! I did at least find this from Tweag: tweag.io/blog/2018-03-1 – is from a while ago though, so not sure how up to date it is.
yeah we should definitely write about our approach. I don't have much to do with the nix/bazel intersection, but I have seen this post referenced a lot internally. cc

take a look at this repo: github.com/digital-asset/. it's an example of a real world bazel/nix monorepo. I believe tweag were involved in some way
