Gah yeah I really need to do this too lol. I can never find anything.

I'd taken to having local clones and having a topical index using symlinks… it's a bit clunky though! Does mean I can keep track of stuff that's not on Github though…

Yup- I usually am not a fan of silos- don't want to limit myself. But most stuff *is* on github- the stuff I've starred on gitlab is mostly Emacs related, so easy enough to search through. The occasional bitbucket or self hosted is tagged via bookmarking, but admittedly lost :(

Yeah I think it's more of an issue for my work as academic stuff (like obscure type system/compiler implementations) can be strewn about a bit across the web. Still think the github lists would be valuable though!

I actually was just gonna say that for research, it definitely doesn't feel like a good system- I really want papers + presentations + code to live together. Been keeping knowledge in org-mode for years but really need to focus on an external facing version.

I was super excited about lists as I want a quick (repeatable!) way of "I see you're doing xyz, here's some projects doing xyz" but apparently my lists are private which makes me sad.

Yeah, been looking into digital gardens and such! Seems so cool. I have a Zotero full of papers but really wondering if I should instead move to something like BibTex - I want to be able to add cross-references from my notes, and potentially publish them in future.

I saw this goofy thing that I've been contemplating trying to resurrect or port to Rust, lol. Would be fun to have your papers/references loaded as a FUSE file system:

I think there is an org-roam plugin for BibTeX though, if you are in emacs land. I am in VS Code land, alas.

It's not too late to join us in Emacs land 😉 If only I could share all the research management modes I've starred...

Haha maybe one day! Still find the keyboard shortcuts/navigation a bit to get my head around. Oh yeah silly me, I imagine there must be a ton out there lol. Currently my main project on my mind is getting my new mac set up with Nix! 😊

Ooo, jealous! I have been meaning to look at replacing brew with nix- partially because everything breaks on update, partially because we use it at Canva, and partially because... because.

Oh Canva uses Nix?
It's been nice on the whole, although there's a bit to get your head around at first. Although they are still technically experimental, Nix flakes and the nix command seem to make the experience much nicer than when I tried it in the past!
