I'd taken to having local clones and having a topical index using symlinks… it's a bit clunky though! Does mean I can keep track of stuff that's not on Github though…

Yup- I usually am not a fan of silos- don't want to limit myself. But most stuff *is* on github- the stuff I've starred on gitlab is mostly Emacs related, so easy enough to search through. The occasional bitbucket or self hosted is tagged via bookmarking, but admittedly lost :(

Yeah I think it's more of an issue for my work as academic stuff (like obscure type system/compiler implementations) can be strewn about a bit across the web. Still think the github lists would be valuable though!
