Who do know who does a split shift style workday? What does that look like for you and how did you settle into it / realise that was right for you?

Yeah I can't really deal with a full block of work – the stuff I do is pretty mentally intensive/creative, and even when I'm out and about or doing other stuff my mind is processing stuff and I try to factor that in. So I try to do stuff as my energy strikes I guess?

But yeah I'm pretty scatterbrained in general and struggle with focusing on stuff like min-maxing productivity - just kind of bumble along and hope for the best I guess? Thankfully my work offers a bit of flexibility… dunno if it is a very healthy way to do it though.
But yeah I definitely feel slumps after a few hours of work - I give myself permission to ease off or do something else then. Like, in another job all my stretches of focus time would be chopped up with meetings and distractions so I wouldn't notice.

Another nifty technique is have a few tasks on the go that you can switch between if you get bored or stuck. Lets the mind process stuff in the background for a bit. I know some places aren't set up to support that kind of work, but I find it works with my brain at least.

Yeah I feel this. I do a lot of background processing so breaks just help a lot I think! Especially if they are naps or menial tasks like doing the dishes.

Yeah! Or going for a walk! I get so many cool ideas like that. Or drawing etc. Like, a lot of the way I work is similar when I was doing other creative stuff, like art, illustration and design.
