you work your ass off only to get ignored and then 20 years later someone does what you did but slightly worse and takes credit for everything

for example i've run into people who genuinely thought that rust came up with sum types/pattern matching

When we teach languages we defs need to remember to keep beating the drum of - ‘this is ancient tech’. I know Graydon etc. did back in the early days of Rust but it can be easy to forget to do.
