I’ve been a professional programmer for 10 years now, and I rarely want to see loops, they don't make things easier to follow, they add noise. I would like to learn math, tho

I do think that converting math notation to a programming language is a great way to teach math to programmers, it works, at least for me, but I wouldn't ask to replace math courses with programming. I wish school wasn't so obsessed with calculating

Yeah, as I say all the time, arithmetic misses most of what mathematics great and interesting! And there's so much more to maths than just calculus… took me getting to PL, type theory, and theorem provers to learn that maths was like some cool, abstract, multidimensional lego.
Like, I'd got a feeling of that from reading some pop sci stuff on maths and physics, but never really *understood* it. It's been great to be able to get a better glimpse of it via programming languages.
