Very unpopular opinion: most of the appeal of Rust comes from people wanting to prove that they’re capable of learning a hard language. There is nothing pleasant about writing Rust. Unless you’re actually building low level systems, you would be better served using Go or OCaml.

I’m a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I would be more likely to use OCaml if it had the above! 😅 Also better cross-platform support for Windows (I don’t use it, but there’s always a chance you’ll need to support it in the future).
Granted, even then I think it would take me a while to get used to postfix, uncurried type constructors. But yeah the module system and the effects and handlers on the horizon look so nice to me. 🥺
Effect handlers and modular implicits are what keep me hanging around. But the tooling can use some work. I've been spoiled by cargo and Go itself. Even Racket has better tooling.
It's improving, so I'm hopeful.
